About Me
My husband, Kevin, a local photographer, took this photo of our reflection in a window at a BBQ Festival several years ago. I grew up in Lawson. My father and mother owned Mercer Farm & Implement Company. Kevin is a life-long resident and we love living in Excelsior Springs.
We have two children, Courtney and Joe, both born at Excelsior Springs Hospital. Courtney married Jason Cole and they live at the old Morgan home on Elms Boulevard with their daughter, Mackenzie. Joe lives with his wife, Darci Houk, in Kansas City. We are a close knit family and work together.
- I first worked at the Town & Country Leader and The Daily Standard, owned by Kevin's family until 1986. Since then I have worked in the newspaper business, printing business, and Internet business, and a fun part-time job one summer as a historic interpreter at the Jesse James Farm.
- We live in a Craftsman house in the Boarding House Historic District; walking distance to downtown, the Fishing River Parkway and Dari-B!
- My favorite things are my porch swing, reading, enjoying my granddaughter's talents, researching family history and Excelsior Springs history, and my cats.
- The best thing about Excelsior Springs is the people. And, you should know there are a lot of caring, skilled staff in our city departments that provide great service for residents and businesses. You should feel proud of your community. I do.
